Verse Text: وَلاَ تَنكِحُواْ مَا نَكَحَ آبَاؤُكُم مِّنَ النِّسَاء إِلاَّ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَمَقْتًا وَسَاء سَبِيلاً

Transliteration: Wala tankihoo ma nakaha abaokum mina alnnisa-i illa ma qad salafa innahu kana fahishatan wamaqtan wasaa sabeelan

Translation (Tahereh Saffarzadeh): And do not marry any woman whom your father has married unless the marriage has happened before [this Decree] for it is shameful and indecent and an abominable custom indeed. Translation (M.H. Shakir): And marry not woman whom your fathers married, except what has already passed; this surely is indecent and hateful, and it is an evil way.
