Surah No: 4

Revealed: Medina

Verse Text:

Transliteration: Wa-in aradtumu istibdala zawjin makana zawjin waataytum ihdahunna qintaran fala ta/khuthoo minhu shay-an ata/khuthoonahu buhtanan wa-ithman mubeenan

Translation (Tahereh Saffarzadeh): But if you intend to substitute your wife by another and you have given the former a large amount of wealth for marriage portion, do not take a bit of it back; would you take it by slandering her which is an obvious sin?
Translation (M.H. Shakir): And if you wish to have (one) wife in place of another and you have given one of them a heap of gold, then take not from it anything; would you take it by slandering (her) and (doing her) manifest wrong?
